Mission Statement of NW Telepsychiatry, PC

NW Telepsychiatry was created with one purpose in mind; to bridge the gap in mental health that most rural areas in the Northwest experience. Many people suffering from mental illness live in isolated areas with limited access to psychiatric services. Obtaining mental health care is often dictated by distance from urban areas, and difficulty in recruiting and retaining psychiatrists to live in rural communities. Our goal is to provide compassionate, comprehensive psychiatric services to children, adolescents and adults of all ages. To do this, we have recruited compassionate, knowledgeable, and ambitious psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners who are dedicated to bridging this gap in mental health care.

We provide care through multiple venues including community mental health clinics, sub-acute units, and secured and unsecured recovery training facilities.

Here at Northwest Telepsychiatry, we offer patients a HIPPA compliant platform, which now allows top-notch psychiatric care in areas where it may otherwise not be available or affordable. While we offer both psychotherapy and psychiatric services available to both children and adults, we also provide medication management within our telemedicine model.

The staff at NW Telepsychiatry work hand in hand with each facility to ensure the needs of both the patient and facility is met.

How we do it: Providing psychiatric services to rural areas includes both telemedicine (teleconferencing equipment where by clinician and patient can both see and hear one another) and face-to-face (on-site treatment where we come to the community and see patients directly). During our two years of operation, NW Telepsychiatry staff has learned that on-site visits are very important for continued trust, and rapport building, with clinic staff and patients. Thus at a minimum we take our clinicians to the clinic every three months. Through our model, NW Telepsychiatry can literally put a mental health care provider in any community in the state of Oregon, and in the Northwest, as long as it has high speed internet access (DSL/Cable).
